So the question is, do we go to church to worship or to be entertained?

Mark 2:27 And he said unto them. The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.

Revelation 22: 18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Thank God we have prayer,

Your blog made me laugh out loud! It made me reflect back to the days I attended church with my folks and I remembered how they both highly disliked when people started clapping in church. I can picture my mothers face and vividly remember the look in her eyes screaming don't you dare clap!

The Catholic literature up to the 1970s generally focused on spiritual directors as those who provided (1) confession of sin and (2) guidance to directees, largely in the setting of religious life. If a lay person saw their spiritual director, most often a priest, they expected to be told what to do in order to live a more holy life. The current model of spiritual direction is quite different, as discussed in the article and in the leading book in the field, "The Practice of Spiritual Direction" by Barry and Connolly (both Jesuit priests). A spiritual director is very unlikely to tell you what to do, even if they think they know what you should do. They listen a lot and ask lots of questions in order to help the directee find for themselves how God is leading them and to respond generously. It is all about spiritual maturity, not submission of the mind and will which can prolong spiritual immaturity or propagate the director's particular view of the way God "normally" works. It respects the unique personal relationship between the directee and God.

This was an interesting blog. I have a 5 in one plus that I have been wearing since world youth day in 93 off and on. By the way to get the full benefit of it you need to be enrolled cf. http://www.sistersofcarmel/scapinfo.php In regards to a person superstitiously wearing a scapular as a "get out of jail free card" a friend gave me a little booklet on the miracles of the scapular and in it was the story of an angry atheist who wore one just to challenge God and the Blessed Mother. On the man's deathbed the scapular which had held together until then miraculously broke and fell to the floor. The man saw a vision of hell right after that and died. I guess it's not nice to fool Mother Mary is it?
